Energy conservation
Energy conservation saves money, protects the environment, enhances industry productivity and competitiveness, and contributes to energy reliability and security.
Queensland Mines and Energy is committed to providing Queenslanders with the tools and information needed to become more EnergyWise. Energy conservation is essentially about achieving 'more with less' by using energy wisely and avoiding energy waste to achieve the same or greater results for consumers.
Why be energy efficient?
By investing in energy efficiency practices and products, all Queenslanders inlcuding government, industry, business and households, can benefit financially, socially and environmentally.
Increased energy conservation in homes, businesses and industry can provide financial benefits through reduced electricity bills.
Improvements in energy efficiency also play a part in reducing energy use and subsequent greenhouse gas emissions, contribute to the competitiveness of industry and assist in better managing energy demand. The Government is supporting businesses to implement energy savings plans through the Smart Energy Savings Program and Smart Energy Savings Fund.
Energy efficiency for all Queenslanders
The Queensland Government is working with the Commonwealth and other States and Territories to develop and implement national programs for energy efficiency through the National Framework for Energy Efficiency. Queensland Mines and Energy is supporting a number of initiatives under this framework to introduce energy efficient practices for all Queenslanders.
