Marketing rules

A Marketing Code of Conduct has been developed to protect household and small business customers from inappropriate marketing practices in the lead up to and after the introduction of full retail competition

Full Retail Competition

From 1 July 2007 most residential and small business customers in Queensland have been able to choose who they buy their electricity and natural gas from.

Since 1998 the Queensland Government has progressively introduced retail competition into the State's electricity and gas markets.  Large commercial and industrial customers have been able to choose their energy retailer prior to 1 July 2007. The final step in this process, known as full retail competition, has meant that almost 1.8 million small business and residential customers in Queensland are now able to choose their electricity and natural gas retailer.
