Gas Industry Code and Retail Market Procedures

The second edition of the Gas Industry Code came into force on 1 July 2009.

The Gas Industry Code contains many elements of the customer protection framework for full retail competition, including:

  • a 10 business day cooling off period on all negotiated retail contracts
  • minimum terms and conditions of negotiated contracts with small customers
  • a marketing code of conduct for retailers and their marketing agents.

Visit the Queensland Competition Authority website to download a copy of the Gas Industry Code.

Retail Market Procedures

The Retail Market Procedures (Queensland), administered by the Australian Energy Market Operator and made under the National Gas Rules, contain many of the technical rules about the operation of the Queensland natural gas retail market.
