Gas transmission and distribution
Gas transmission
Natural gas is transported from the field to market by transmission pipelines. There are five major natural gas transmission pipelines in Queensland:
- Ballera to Wallumbilla (Roma) Pipeline (756 km)
- Ballera to Mt Isa Pipeline (841 km)
- Wallumbilla (Roma) to Brisbane Pipeline (440 km)
- Wallumbilla (Roma) to Gladstone and Rockhampton Pipeline (627 km)
- Moranbah to Townsville Pipeline (391 km)
These transmission pipelines directly service large industrial customers and gas-fired generators. They also provide gas for localised distribution networks in and around Queensland cities and major regional centres.
Gas distribution
Natural gas distribution networks (serviced by transmission pipelines) are located in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Ipswich, Toowoomba, Oakey, Roma and Dalby, and in the coastal regional centres of Bundaberg, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Gladstone and Rockhampton.
