Fatal and serious accidents - mining warden inquiries

Inquiries into fatal and serious accidents prior to March 2001 were carried out by the mining warden in the mining warden's court. Available historic records of these inquiries are presented in the interests of improving safety and health in the mining industry.

Coroners' mining fatality inquiries since that date may be included in the Coroner Inquests which details all coronial inquests in Queensland, not just mining fatality inquests.

Queensland Mining Industry Health and Safety Conferences

The annual queensland mining industry health and safety conference, organised by a committee comprising representatives of the Mines Inspectorate, Queensland Resources Council, Simtars, the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union(CFMEU) and the Australian Workers' Union has proved to be a very successful venue for disseminating safety and occupational health information to the mining industry.

The 21st conference will be held in Townsville from 23-26 August 2009. Further information will be provided on the Queensland Mining Industry website.

The 20th conference held in Townsville in August 2008 was attended by over 650 delegates and partners. The conference theme was "Breaking new ground" which was well covered by Australian and international keynote speakers.

Papers and innovations from the 2008 conference and from previous conferences will be available from the Queensland Mining Industry website.
