Data acquisition authority (DAA)

A data acquisition authority (DAA) allows limited geophysical survey activities, to acquire data relevant to authorised activities of an authority to prospect (ATP) or petroleum lease (PL), outside the area of an ATP or PL. However, a DAA cannot be granted over land that is also in the area of an ATP or PL.

There is no area restriction on a DAA but it may only be granted over land that is contiguous to land in the area of an ATP or PL.

The maximum term for a DAA is one year. Irrespective of this, the DAA ends when the ATP or PL, to which it is associated, ends.
