Mineral Occurrence Data
Queensland Mineral Occurrence Data contains geological and statistical information on operating and abandoned mines, active and dormant mineral prospects, and known mineral occurrences in Queensland (PDF, 198 kB) (excluding coal).
The data have been decoded and concatenated into a simple relational database structure with an MS Access interface with pre-built forms and queries to interrogate the data. The minimum software requirement to view the data is Microsoft Access 2000 or a later version.
Most tables include latitude and longitude, plus AMG zone and co-ordinates for ease of display in GIS (Geographic Information System) software.
The data contains comprehensive information on mines, prospects and mineral occurrences gathered from field investigations, reports dating from the last century to the present, reviews of company exploration results, company annual reports and industry publications.
The data have been decoded and concatenated into a simple relational database structure with an MS Access interface. The database includes details of deposit model, host rock and ore-body geology, production history, resources, a bibliography for each individual deposit, and comments.
The concatenated database is regenerated annually to capture any new or updated information.
Geological observation data

Geological site observation data (118 866 sites) captured during geological mapping activities of the Geological Survey, mostly since 1986.
The data have been decoded and concatenated into a simple relational database structure with an MS Access interface with pre-built forms and queries to interrogate the data. The minimum software requirement to view the data is Microsoft Access 2000 or a later version.
Data include rock types, rock characteristics (e.g. colour, grain size, texture, structural measurements and formation name).
The isotopic dates (SHRIMP, U-Pb, K-Ar) include all the age determinations obtained by the Department and many of those available in the public domain (>900 dates).
The whole rock chemistry is a compilation of all the analyses (12 000) completed by the Geological Survey during its regional mapping activities and also those completed in joint projects between the Geological Survey of Queensland and Geoscience Australia. These analyses have been used to classify rock types and improve the understanding of Queensland's geology.
Most tables include latitude, longitude, and AMG coordinates for ease of display in Geographic Information System (GIS) software. In addition many tables have been populated with corresponding Rock Units and Structural Units, from the Department's corporate relational database. The database is regenerated annually to capture any new or updated information.
Mineral occurrence and geological observation data are available on a DVD.
To order, view pricing, then print out the order form (PDF 40 kB). Copies can also be obtained from most DME service centres.
