Miners Memorial Day Service 2009

Saturday 19 September 2009

The second Miners Memorial Day Service was held on Saturday 19 September, again at the Roma Street Parkland.

Approximately 300 people attended the Service that paid tribute to those miners who have lost their lives in accidents throughout Queensland's mining history.

If you were unable to attend the service, you can view the Order of Service here.

The Service recognised the closeness of mining communities and paid appropriate respect to those who lost their lives in Queensland mines.

A solemn liturgy was led by the Most Reverend Dr Phillip Aspinall, Archbishop, Anglican Diocese of Brisbane, who was assisted by the Most Reverend Joseph Ouderman, Auxiliary Bishop, Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane and Reverend Bruce Johnson, Moderator, Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod. Andrew Lofthouse again acted as the Master of Ceremonies for the event.
