Petroleum survey licence (PSL)
A Petroleum Survey Licence (PSL) is granted to allow the PSL holder to access land to investigate, survey and identify:
• a route for a pipeline
• a likely site for a petroleum facility
• access routes for a pipeline or petroleum facility.
The survey licence holder may carry out the above mentioned activities, but can not conduct activities that include such things as:
• excavating or clearing land
• constructing or placing a building, structure, or other thing (other than a fence or a gate)
• disposing of, or storing, garbage or a poisonous, toxic or hazardous substances in or on the land.
A PSL has no area limitations and may be granted up to a maximum of 12 months.
