Queensland Resource Industry Ambassadors

The Queensland Resource Industry Ambassadors (QRIA) is a committee established by the Queensland Government to promote mining exploration and investment in Queensland.

The QRIA has 14 members:

• Dr Julie Beeby, General Manager, Strategic Planning and Projects, Peabody Energy Australia Pty Limited 
• Mr Chris Brown, Senior Analyst, ABN Amro Morgans
• Ms Alice Clark, Principal, CdeK Geological and Mining Services
• Mr Steve de Kruijff, Chief Operating Officer, Xstrata Copper North Queensland
• Mr Andrew Gillies, Managing Director, Metallica Minerals Ltd
• Mr Doug Kirwin, Executive Vice President Exploration, Ivanhoe Mines
• Mr Ken MacDonald, Consultant, Allens Arthur Robinson
• Emeritus Professor Don McKee, formerly Head of the Department of Mining, Minerals and Materials Engineering, University of Queensland (retired 2007)
• Mr Zimi Meka, Chief Executive Officer, Ausenco Limited
• Mr Terry O'Shane, Chairman, North Queensland Land Council
• Mr John Pegler, Chairman and a Director of the Australian Coal Association Ltd
• Mr Michael Roche, Chief Executive, Queensland Resources Council
• Mr Nick Stump, Chairman, Groundprobe Pty Ltd and Chairman of the Sustainable Minerals Institute
• Mr Rick Wilkinson, President GLNG and Queensland, Santos Ltd.

The role of the Queensland Resource Industry Ambassadors is to:

• Provide a forum for discussion with the Minister for Mines and Energy on raising Queensland's profile in the international exploration community
• Publicly present and promote the wealth of exploration opportunities on offer in Queensland
• Work in partnership with Queensland Mines and Energy representatives in promoting Queensland as the province of choice for exploration
• Advise Queensland Mines and Energy on the best avenues to communicate with industry
• Provide advice on promotional material with an eye to maximising the impact of Queensland's message.

The QRIA operate under Terms of Reference (PDF 40kB) and an Operating Protocol (PDF 36kB).

The Queensland Resource Industry Ambassadors were officially welcomed at a breakfast hosted by the Hon Stephen Robertson, Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy and Minister for Trade.
