Safety & Compliance
Mines and Energy issues several safety publications that have information about accidents, incidents or industry best practice related to explosives use.
Explosives information bulletins answer frequently asked questions and give advice and information on licensing issues, legislative requirements, national standards, industry best practice, dangerous situations and compliance matters. They often summarise trends in poor practices that have resulted in near-misses, accidents or injuries.
Explosives safety alerts have urgent information on significant explosives incidents, especially where exposure to similar risks could cause repeats elsewhere. These alerts also warn of possible risks.
Important notices have routine information regarding Explosives Inspectorate licensing and related matters, including changes to procedures, contact details, and administrative issues.
Significant explosives incidents and accidents reports outline the details of incidents, accidents or near misses following investigation of incidents. They may include recommendations to prevent reoccurrence of similar incidents. A significant incident report may be issued on a site-specific incident, some time after the issue of the initial safety alert.
Special effects and close proximity displays This first draft of the Queensland code of practice for the control of special effects events and close proximity fireworks displays has been prepared as a discussion paper for public comment.
Security risk assessment and security plan Licence holders require a security plan to cover all of the activities associated with management of security sensitive explosives. The security plan should be based on a security risk assessment. The template provides a guide to conducting the security risk assessment and compiling the security plan.
Notification Forms These form are provided by the Department to assist licence holders in providing all relevant information when submitting an explosives blasting/fireworks notification.
